We are excited to celebrate Professor Stewart Shapiro's signing ceremony at the American Academy of Arts & Sciences in Cambridge, MA on September 9, 2022. He was elected to the Academy in 2021 and the COVID pandemic had delayed the formal induction. At the signing ceremony, the Academy's President David Oxtoby underscored the Academy's goal to work to overcome the colonialism and racism that characterized this country since its inception, including in the Academy itself. One of the speeches in the ceremony was delivered by Dr. Sanjay Gupta (a noted neurosurgeon and national news media correspondent), who spoke on how to value and encourage skepticism and criticism without disinformation and anti-science.
