The Philosophy Department Recieves Grant from UITL

UTIL

This year, the philosophy department received a $3500 grant from the University Institute for Teaching and Learning to support a series of teaching workshops led by graduate students and lecturers in the philosophy department:

  • Teaching Orientations for New Instructors and GTAs (Evan Thomas)
  • Classroom Techniques for Active Learning (Joshua Smart)
  • Diversifying Syllabi (Lavender McKittrick-Sweitzer)
  • Teaching Introduction to Logic (Eric De Araujo)
  • Assessment Design (Erin Mercurio)
  • Teaching Engineering Ethics (Michael Bertrand)
  • Teaching Online (Andre Curtis-Trudel)

This was a welcome initiative to support our teaching community in what turned out to be a challenging academic year in which the coronavirus pandemic forced a transition to online teaching in the middle of the spring semester. Many thanks to our organizing team of graduate students for all their work in writing the grant proposal and organizing the series of workshops, including Ali Aenehzodaee, Ethan Brauer, Steven Dalglish, Erin Mercurio, Evan Thomas, and Evan Woods. To read more about these workshops, please see our final report.
