New Faculty in Philosophy: Sahar Heydari Fard

Sahar Heydari Fard

The Department of Philosophy is thrilled to announce the hire of Dr. Sahar Heydari Fard to the position of Assistant Professor, starting in autumn 2022.

Professor Heydari Fard’s expertise lies at the intersection of social and behavioral sciences, social and political philosophy, and ethics. Much of her research is concerned with examining the possibility of sustainable change in complex and dynamic social systems, and the moral implications of such a possibility. Her forthcoming paper in the journal Synthese is entitled “Strategic Injustice, Dynamic Network Formation, and Social Movements”.

Currently, Professor Heydari Fard is a Teaching Assistant Professor in the Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE) program at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. She received her PhD in Philosophy and MSc in Applied Economics from the University of Cincinnati in 2021. Her Bachelor of Science degree in Physics is from the University of Tehran.

At Ohio State, Professor Heydari Fard will significantly strengthen the department’s research and instruction across a wide range of areas from formal modeling and complexity theory to feminist theory and philosophy of race. She will also provide key support to the new undergraduate major in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics (PPE), which is an interdisciplinary collaboration of the Departments of Philosophy, Political Science, and Economics.

We look forward to welcoming her in the fall!
