Congratulations to Lincoln Lundgren, a philosophy major, for being named a co-first place winner of the Center for Ethics and Human Values (CEHV) Award at the Denman Undergraduate Research Forum! His project, "Is Use of Unproblematic Epistemic Resources to Achieve Permissible Ends Always Permissible?", advised by Professor Tristram McPherson, earned him a $500 prize and recognition for its contribution to ethical inquiry.

Lincoln developed this project in PHILOS 5750: Advanced Theory of Knowledge, where he engaged in deep discussions on epistemic permissibility and its broader implications. Reflecting on his contributions, Professor Jada Wiggleton-Little shared:

"When Lincoln first brought his paper idea to me, he was very mindful about the potential implications of his argument. He cleverly pulled epistemic permissibility apart from social and moral concerns surrounding racial stereotypes. Not only does his project highlight his ability to thoughtfully navigate tricky social issues, Lincoln’s collaborative and collegial approach to philosophy positively impacted our class. I will never forget, during class presentations, another student playfully quoted a conversation they had with Lincoln outside of the classroom and how it shaped that student’s thinking. Lincoln’s paper and his classmate’s paper were made better by Lincoln’s willingness to humbly engage with dissenting opinions."

Lincoln’s achievement is an exciting recognition of the strong philosophical work being done by students at Ohio State.
