Abstract: I shall present a brief overview of the development of logic in early Classical India, starting from its roots in pre-classical India (6th century bce) up to the early classical period (6th century ce). In addition, I shall also make a number of observations contrasting the development of logic in Europe and in India as well as share some reflections on methodological questions pertaining to the history of mathematics and logic.
