Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

How to pronounce my name:

Matthew Willis

I work largely in social epistemology and ethics.  My current projects pertain to epistemic responsibility and what sorts of obligations we might have as well-mannered reasoners in a state of general uncertainty, including those epistemic obligations that we owe to one another.  I also work on modeling how epistemic agents and the epistemic landscapes that they occupy can form a dynamic system, thus rejecting the presumption that the epistemic landscape impinges on epistemic agents without, itself, being altered by them.
