Andre Curtis-Trudel

Andre Curtis-Trudel

B.A. Philosophy, University of Calgary, 2016
B.Sc. Computer Science, University of Calgary, 2016

Interests
My main interests are in logic, philosophy of logic and philosophical methodology. In particular, I am interested in computability, logical pluralism, and Carnap's conception of explication. I am also interested in the history of analytic philosophy, with (unsurprisingly) a focus on Carnap.

Scott Harkema

Scott Harkema

B.A. Philosophy, Religion (minor Greek), Calvin College, 2014
M.A. Philosophy, University of Mississippi, 2016

Interests
My interests are primarily in the history of philosophy. I've done the most research on George Berkeley and his theory of the self, self-knowledge, representation, perception, action, causation, and other topics in the philosophy of mind and language. I remain interested in early modern philosophy and the developments in the philosophy of mind and language, especially in the empiricists.

I'm developing an interest in the historical critiques of metaphysics from the nature of mind and/or language. I'm particularly interested in these themes in the work of Locke, Berkeley, Bayle, Hume, Kant, Russell, Wittgenstein (early, "middle," and late), Neurath, and Carnap.

I have a bit of an interest in contemporary moral theory and (Aristotelian) virtue ethics as well as contemporary philosophy of mind and philosophy of language.

Preston Lennon

B.A. Philosophy, Sewanee: The University of the South, 2012
M.A. Philosophy, Virginia Tech, 2016

Interests
At the broadest level, I am interested in the relationship between consciousness and value. My research interests thus tend to fall into two subdisciplines: the philosophy of mind and metaethics. More specifically, within the philosophy of mind, I am interested in the content of phenomenal consciousness, cognitive phenomenology, and the philosophy of emotion. Within metaethics, I am interested in sensibility theories of value and epistemological issues for moral realism. Outside of philosophy, my interests include craft beer, the Carolina Panthers, and my fiancée, Rachel.

Xiang Yu

M.A. Texas Tech University, 2015
B.A. University of International Business and Economics, 2013

Interests
My primary philosophical interests are in metaethics and normative ethics. Topics I am particularly interested in: the relationship between value and reasons, Kantian and Humean constructivism about value, similarities and differences between practical reasons and epistemic reasons, Kantian ethics, and Consequentialism. I also have interests in economic ethics, mathematical logic, and linguistics.
