Undergraduate Students
The Minor in Philosophy
All minor programs must be approved by the Professor Tamar Rudavsky, Director of Undergraduate Studies (Room 376, University Hall, 292-2247). Consultation concerning the minor should be sought at least one year prior to the student's projected date of graduation. The minimal requirements for a minor in Philosophy are:- At least 20 credit hours in Philosophy courses numbered 200 or above (see Course Descriptions).
- At least ten of those credit hours must be in Philosophy courses numbered 300 or above (see Course Descriptions).
- At least five of those credit hours must be in Philosophy courses numbered 400 or above (see Course Descriptions).
- No more than five credit hours of Philosophy 693 coursework may be applied to the minor.
- A minimum of 10 credit hours of a student's minor program must be completed at Ohio State.
- Philosophy 367 & 597 do not count towards your minor program, although they may be used for GEC purposes.
Some students will want a minor in Philosophy to complement their major; others will want to follow some topic in Philosophy unrelated to their major. In either case, the Director of Undergraduate Studies will help design a minor program that is sensitive to the individual student's goals.
