ABSTRACT: This paper is an exploration of the metaphysics of social structures, particularly as deployed in the work of Sally Haslanger. I argue that Haslanger’s project should be understood as assuming a robust metaphysical realism. Haslanger can then be seen as articulating the intriguing view that there are joints in reality which are not joints in nature.
